$250 for the entertainment... umm thats either a magician or me..

My advice when spending BIG money for a entertainer.. SHOP AROUND..

Find the entertainer who you click with.. who's humor you feel your kids will like.. and umm for most parents and families (hiding cause other entertainers are lookin for tourches and rope) paying for a high end entertainer should be saved for big parties..

like 5 years old (getting ready for school)
13 (YEAH!! I'm a teen)
16 (Now I can Drive)
18 ( I'm a adult)

Also keep in mind there is entertainment that covers the entire gambit of skill and price..
I met a guy in Vegas doing birthday parties for $75/hr and he was a AWSOME magician, and for Vegas if your not Awsome in Magic your hungry..

On the same note around Atlanta many of the entertainers are friends and if your honest with them about your budget and they refer you.. then you found the right person.. Don't go with the "Entertainer" that "has someone that works for them" that "Can work for a lower rate"

this = CHEAP and BAD entertainment.. cause if they hire out someone for $75 for your party that means the entertainer got a MAX of $50 ...
So they are doing ANYTHING they can to book the gig, and then finding the CHEAPEST person in town to do the gig for them. I feel this is a HORRID practice and many times gives YOU the client a bad experience...

but the only way to avoid it...CALL AROUND

and if you call me I will try to book it "IF" and only "IF" your budget will pay my rate... if not I will refer you to one of the other people in my list that I have seen perform..

and the MAIN reason I say to only go all out for BIG parties.. is because GREAT entertainers are not CHEAP..

......

On the COST of a Party overall
BUILD A BUDGET before you call around
if you only have $150 total to spend
plan games, crafts, and other things and don't hire a entertainer

Most parties I help parents plan the budget is between $500 -$1250, and mom does nothing but set up the table and chairs..

I think I am going to write a few articles on party planning on a budget.. because in today's economy saving helps..

.......
For my son's 1st Birthday I tried to convince my wife to hire a entertainer for $450.. I got trumped because she saw through my misdirection in that I wanted to see the show.. so my family is hiring that entertainer for my 35th (=

 10   Who should I hire? / Cre8tivly Twysted- Magic and Balloons  on: Feb 23rd, 2009, 09:02am

Jay Ward @ Cre8tivly Twysted

on a few occasions I have gotten to see Jay I have been blown away.. He is one of the FEW people in the Metro Area that can go head to head with me on making ELABORATE balloons and not even the crowd can tell which of us is the better twister, but Jay isn't a balloon guy.

Jay is Atlanta's Most hidden secret as far as Magicians go. He isn't the most agressive marketer so many parents don't have a clue he exsists.

Jay has a interactive magic show that I was laughing at and even the adults where joining in with the kids to have a great time.

He levitates the birthday child and even has a Live rabbit

for more information on JAY visit his website at http://www.JayWard.net

Ohh and if you decide to use Jay tell him Balloon Guy Mike made ya call, and that you need to hire the 2nd best balloon guy in GA (He will laugh about it cause we are always competing)

And if you HAVE hired Jay in the Past PLEASE write a quick review about your party or event..
